problem is, I can’t tell if that’s supposed to be in character or not because he is, with some regularity, an asshole

I love that Odo isn’t above bribing Quark with things that actually probably help Odo out too. I mean, bribery with payment in having a repair crew work faster on the station helps Quark most especially, yes, but it really helps everybody in the end.
